Freddie’s Martin’s first solo album, “Slane”, is filled with hopeful songs to get you thinking, humming and singing along ;-) Some are quiet, some rock out; they are really all over the place.

Slane is where my family comes from in Ireland. There, ancient passage tombs are lit up by the sun on the winter solstice dawn, bringing the balance of life and light to our darkest times. The songs on the album are each inspired by the cycles of death and rebirth we each experience in our lives. The songs are about the back and forth of the physical and spiritual, and our hope in believing in something more. And hopefully some of the songs just lighten it up.

The first song, “Peace Will Prevail”, is co-written by Pete Seeger and is based on an old Irish air. It is one of the last songs that Pete worked on and the message is for the ages. It has a gospel ending. Please give it a listen. Peace.
