It’s about the songs, it’s always about the songs !


After a very well- received first album ‘Break of Dawn’ The Folk Survival Club decided to spend some time in Nashville, in ’Cowboy’Jack Clement’s Arms Hotel and Recording Spa to record their second album ‘I believe in Rock and Roll’.
Most of the songs on this new album were written by singer-songwriter Ad van Meurs, aka The Watchman, who has built up a great reputation as writer/composer and as excellent performer.
He has released more than eleven albums as 'The Watchman' and is involved with several musical projects
On this folky album with the somewhat confusing title 'I Believe in Rock and Roll ' his songs are performed by singers Marjan Cornille ( The Nightingale of Antwerp) and Ankie Keultjes ( also the producer of the album) who were accompanied by an international group of musicians who’s craftsmanship gave this album that very special ‘transatlantic’ feel.
Compassionate singing of a repertoire that varies from the old traditional Wildwood Flower to the lovely folk ballad Country Boy and the upbeat love song Loving Heart. The tasteful accompaniment of old time friend and guitarist Gene Williams from Tulsa OK, Glen Duncan on mandolin and fiddle, Carrie Rodriguez on fiddle and the musicians from the Folk Survival Club on acoustic guitars, drums and bass turn this album into a pleasant listening experience we hope you all will enjoy.

A remarkable detail: The Cowboy’s Arms Hotel and recording Spa was completely destroyed by a fire in May 2011, (two months after our recordings sessions) but has been completely rebuilt by Jack Clement .(Of course there was a great loss of historic recordings and other memories from his unique career, that can never be replaced)
