Blunted in the Bomb Shelter Mix

Blunted in the Bomb Shelter Mix

by Jack LV IslesTrojan sent most of their catalog over to Madlib's bomb shelter (the name given to his basement studio in California) and asked him to put together a mix CD of his favorite dub reggae joints. So after some time passed and he hadn't delivered the record yet Trojan began politely harassing him. The result is this attention-span-disorder delight put together in a single afternoon. Madlib moves abruptly through 45 Trojan sides with occasional interludes hosted by a computer voice and some of his beat arrangements (which smoothly transfer back to the subject at hand). Nothing is rocked for over a minute or two and nothing picked for this continuous mix is short of excellent. Classics ranging from Lee Perry and the Upsetters' "Jingle Lion," King Tubby's "A Better Version," and the Skatalites' "Guns of Navorone" are here, but so are plenty of hidden favorites. Perfect for sunny afternoon lounging or bedroom headphone perusal, Blunted in the Bomb Shelter doesn't disappoint.
