I'm a Black Man, Who Are You?

I'm a Black Man, Who Are You?

This collection of poems set to music, written and composed by David, captures the deep realities, history, and aesthetics of the culture he inherited by birth. He allows us to feel the power of “Blues/Gospel/Jazz” and what these seminal genres mean in the day-to-day realities of time and circumstance. He instructs us in the poem, “What is Soul?” and captures the spirit of triumph and survival in, “I Am Still Here.” David acknowledges the role of ancestors in the poem, “In Remembrance of the Survivor” and urges in another poem to “Never Forget”, saluting that we are all part of a continuous stream of those who came before us, including the lands that inform our heritages.
