Spent Casings
“Spent Casings,” the latest record from California country rocker Zachariah mines his catalogue singles, live recordings and soundtrack songs that were never properly released on his first two studio albums. The result is a rockin collection of 70’s-inspired desert anthems, marijuana tribute songs and lost love songs.
Zachariah’s band the Lobos Riders take a back seat on this record, as most of the songs were laid down with guest producers ranging from psychedelic LA country legends “I See Hawks in LA” to producer extraordinaire Leroy. (John Mayer, TSA Gangstaz).
“I wanted a record that was stoner-friendly, drunk friendly and broken-heart friendly,” Zachariah claims. “It is a bit of a departure from the consistency of, say, ‘Alcoholiday,’ but we live in a world where the idea of a full record is over. Guys like Ryan Adams and Lil’ Wayne release 100 songs a year. If I had the budget, I could do that too, but until then I’ll keep excavating the stuff we’ve recorded for the best tunes and hope they resonate with somebody.”
“Lawnmower” was recently showcased at the 2008 High Times Stony Awards, where Zachariah and the Lobos Riders bought down the house with their infectious and charismatic live show.
