The Bards - Neil Currie and Michael Mugrage - came together in 2009, having met on a musical project. As the two got to know each oher, they discovered that they shared a love for similar music styles and became good friends. Being lovers of acoustic music and harmonies, Neil and Michael started a side project, playing as a duet in small venues with an eclectic mix of covers and called themselves "The Bards".
While Michael is an established songwriter, with some of his songs covered by such stars as Smokey Robinson and Chaka Khan, Neil was not a professional musician and had never written any songs before. However, he was inspired by his experiences with his son Daniel's autism to write music, and asked Michael to help. Together they wrote "Little Miracles", a song written from the perspective of an autistic child, and others followed including the upbeat "Light It Up Blue" and the beautiful "Catch The Wind". These are featured on their first release, the EP Little Miracles, along with "Watching Over Me, a tribute to Daniel's mother.
