My Momma's People
Southern Gothic? In music form? Yes. Think the works of Flannery O'Connor and Eudora Welty set to music and you have the songwriting duo, Robin and Tom Moore.
Robin's roots go deep into the Alabama red clay where cotton was king and the poor his humble servants. Whites and blacks worked side-by-side in fields they could never own. Sitting at the feet of her "Momma's People", she not only listened to their stories, some true and some spun wildly, she set them to music. Brian Ross, Producer and Manager of Railroad Earth calls Robin's voice, "...pensive, not unlike a younger Lucinda Williams". Maggie Ferguson, producer of the Live! From the Livingroom! Acoustic Showcase, and of the radio program "Old Front Porch" at Oakland University says the music of The Robin Moore Band is" full of heart and the gritty blues of the deep south".
