Most contemporary music doesn’t to speak to reality, and it didn’t speak to AHI. So he skipped the formal training and the artsy gimmicks, picked up a guitar, and patiently taught himself to create the music he wanted to hear. AHI’s trademark sound, Indie Soul, was born.

With AHI’s soulful vocal, you might guess he was native to the bible belt of black America. Far from it. Born and raised in the Canadian suburb of Brampton, AHI was on a path to becoming one of many teachers in his family and was an unlikely candidate for a music career.

Uninspired by school, AHI walked out on a Philosophy and Political Science degree and did what most people would never imagine, he kept walking. AHI travelled across the vast woodlands of Canada, the tropical hillsides of Trinidad, and the ancient cities and majestic highlands of Ethiopia. Some call it “soul searching”, but these pivotal years were less than romantic, shaping AHI’s worldview and helping define what would become his musical voice.

As much as AHI has seen, music has truly been his number one teacher and he has learned that like Bob Marley, MJ, Sam Cooke, 2pac and many others, he too can use music as a powerful expression of honesty to reach the human spirit. This is the void in current music that AHI has devoted himself to filling.

Independently booking and funding his own tours, AHI has travelled over 17,000 miles internationally, performed more than 75 shows in the past year alone, and made headlines in Germany, only this time with a wife and infant daughter at his side. AHI continues to go where many lack the courage, forging timeless music that will speak to the hearts of generations.

Indie Soul (Feb 2014) is AHI's sophomore EP, a collaborative effort with platinum-selling producer Orin Isaacs (Juno's, Genies, Gemini's, and Canada's Walk of Fame) featuring the talents of drummer Shamakah Ali (Chaka Khan, Al Green) and déVah String Quartet (Yamaha, D'Addario Canada).
