Navigation & Segerns Vingar
“Navigation (featuring Lavaman)” and “Segerns Vingar (featuring Mathias Holm)” are two songs of absolutely alchemic guitar wizardry that were originally slated to appear on Quicksilver Night’s unrealized album “Tales of a Life Beyond Me” but ended up being released as digital-only singles instead. Although you can purchase these tracks separately they – along with the Quicksilver Night digital-only three song album “Lucent” – are available for download here at CDBaby as free bonus tracks included with purchase of Quicksilver Night’s “Reliquary” album.
“Navigation” is a complex instrumental piece of harmonic and rhythmic interplay with a deep-set melodic hook driven by the acrobatic guitar of Scotland’s Al “Lavaman” Murdoch. Lavaman is an innovative and experienced guitar player with many years of performance and recording under his belt and was notably awarded runner up in the 2008 Steve Vai Lick Library competition for his stunning entry “Back to Earth”.
The remarkably fluid guitar of Sweden’s Mathias Holm graces the asymmetrical glory of “Segerns Vingar”, soaring in the swirling atmosphere of the song’s odd-metered pulse. The title is “Victory Wings" på Svenska , drawn from the unofficial motto of Quicksilver Night Productions “Segerns vingar bär mig fram” (“Victory wings bear me onward”). Mathias’ recorded works spans a wide array of musically stunning solo and group efforts such as Sweden’s MindSplit.
