About Rita Rose:

Rita Rose is a darling comedic 1950's character who sings a few of her own brand new original tunes as well the music of the women of Rockabilly as a tribute to those fabulous ladies. She also shares stories, for example, of her reasons why she left showgirl life and moved to Chicago, life tips, and her adoration for her new Chicago neighborhood, Boystown.

Rita Rose was inspired by the role of Rita in White Christmas the musical which I had the pleasure of playing with Theatre Matthews in North Carolina under the direction of Ron Chisholm. The character was a huge hit with the audience, and she was so much fun to play that when the opportunity came to create a cabaret show, I knew that it would be the perfect vehicle to use that character inspiration and write a similar, but round character that could star in her own show.

As for the music in The Rita Rose Show, until I began research, I wasn't too familiar with Rockabilly's great women like Wanda Jackson, Janis Martin, Brenda Lee, Lorrie Collins, as well as many others and what they had to go through as females in the music industry at that time. My love for them and the genre was immediately renewed, so I chose to incorporate their music into The Rita Rose Show as a celebration of their work in addition to the brand new songs that I've written in a similar style.
