About the CD: The Skeptics began discussions through e-mail about a possible reunion CD and concert in 2013, the 20th anniversary of the founding of the band. With Mullen living in Tampa, FL and lead guitarist Dave Levin living in Phoenix, AZ, it would have to be a short and sweet session done over a weekend. Mullen and Levin met bassist Mark Buckley, drummer Dan Komanski and producer Jim Sommer at Loft Recording Studio in Cheektowaga, NY (suburb of Buffalo) on April 27, 2013. The CD is recorded almost completely live in the studio, with an acoustic guitar and odd harmony overdubbed here or there. The result is a refreshingly natural sounding recording that preserves all of the raw intensity of The Skeptics’ live shows.

About The Skeptics: The Skeptics were founded in 1993 in Buffalo, NY by Tom Mullen and Mark Buckley. Their first CD, Be Satisfied was recorded in 1994 and released in January 1995 to critical acclaim. The CD was released to over 100 northeast college radio stations. The singles “After All” and “Be Satisfied” both enjoyed strong CMJ charting. The band toured extensively in the northeastern market, frequenting venues in Buffalo, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, New York City and New York State’s Southern Tier. The band made appearances on A.M. Buffalo and Nickel City Scene and opened for 10,000 Maniacs at Thursday in the Square in Buffalo. In 1996, The Skeptics were nominated for “Best Original Pop” band at the prestigious Buffalo Music Awards. Having achieved as much as they believed they could without quitting day jobs and getting into a van for a couple of years, the band broke up amicably in 1998. The past is prologue.
