These Walls
Typically waiting several years between releases, Ottawa power pop-punkers “The Creeps” are set to release a 5-song EP entitled These Walls via Black Pint Records on February 3, 2009.
A follow up to 2008’s well-received Lakeside Cabin, the new EP finds the band taking a new approach to recording a record: instead of the year-long process that resulted in Lakeside, they recorded the songs in two nights and mixed them in one. The results are raw but refined, urgent but not rushed.
Written during the Lakeside sessions, the EP’s five songs differ lyrically from the Creeps’ most recent efforts. Instead of grisly tales of murder, sociopaths and espionage, the songs on These Walls explore a dystopian near-future and offer a bleak conclusion: “These walls are way too high to climb.”
The 7” blue and white marbled vinyl is limited to 400 copies and is available for pre-order through Black Pint Records. A digital version of the EP will be available through your favourite online retailer.
