Alex and Tom met for the first time in the summer of 1980, practicing at Alex's Mother's home in Montebello, California
(of course in the garage). They grew up in the "Hotbed of Music in Southern California in in the 1960's." They listened to the popular music on the radio and to the music of the day known as "The East LA Sound". The music was changing fast in the late 60's and both musicians were playing and soaking up the sound of the "Big Horn Sections, Classic Rock, Soul Music, R&B, Jazz and Popular Music". Along the way they crossed paths musically, playing at various venues and the many local "Battle of the Bands".
This recording came about as a musical experiment. Not only in musical writing and composition, but also in learning how to record with the help of Cesar Rosas, Alex was building his own home studio at that time; Cesar came to the rescue to help engineer, record and give valuable tips and suggestions on the Studio Recording process. The first song on the CD
"Midnight Shuffle" is an example of this ongoing experiment.
The players on the CD are some of LA's best which includes "The Legendary" Hal Blaine who was simply amazing.
Through this experimental musical journey we learned a lot about ourselves which helped us in opening hearts to what we wanted to say. So now we invite you to give an ear to the "Windows Of My Soul"
