This Time Around
From playing in front of more 100,000 people at Underground Atlanta's New Years Eve Peach Drop to playing more than a few outdoor gigs in crazy hot or crazy cold weather, Mark Scott has done a bit of everything in his music career.
Some big highs have included opening for country music stars like Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Rodney Atkins; playing major venues like Cowboys and the Mable House Barnes Amphitheater; playing more than 30 live remotes with Kicks 101.5 and Eagle 106.7; getting his song "Crossing that County Line" included in the indie movie "Grilling Bobby Hicks" and having his UGA anthem "Back to Athens" on the airwaves during fall football Saturdays. Winning Georgia Country Music Song of the Year for his version of "Saints & Angles" was also pretty great.
Of course, like all musicians, he's paid some dues along the way, playing a few three- and four-set gigs at half-full smokey bars til 1 a.m., when inevitably the last patron in the place wants to sit in on the drum kit.
After all the highs and lows, and thankfully there were more highs, Mark took a break from music in 2008, but is now back with new songs. This new music honors his country music roots, but embraces a sound influenced by modern and classic pop and rock. These songs reflect the journey Mark's been on, his appreciation of where he's been and where he's going and the hope that all people find a place they can feel comfortable and call home.
