It’s been a wild and bumpy ride since UNDERWATER played there first gig back in 2001. Ask any member of the UDUB Family, (a nickname the band has given its followers), “A night at an UNDERWATER party is a night you will never forget”! UNDERWATER originated in October of 1999 when friends introduced Willy T. and Dan Miller to each other on Will’s birthday. The two hit it off and right away started writing music, it seemed as if they had been jamming together forever, they seemed to reach unlimited heights of musical dexterity. Writing came with great ease that perfectly complimented one another’s talents, and wrote undeniably catchy tunes, now all they need was a drummer and bassist that could commandeer the same style and feeling that Dan and Will perceived. Dan feeling uneasy with being a success in his own life joined the ARMY in hopes of finding his place in life and pursue a career. During Dan’s leave of absence Willy T. decided to hone his craft to the utmost perfection by studying his idols in music ranging from Bad Brains and 311 to Yellowman and Eek-A-Mouse. Willy T. preparing for his big debut with UNDERWATER jammed and practiced with, (all the while soaking up information and inspiration), friends in the local scene contributing talents such as the keys, drums, and singing. The whole time feeling something was missing out there in the ARMY; Dan decided it was time to return to Phoenix soil and give the only successful band he had ever known (UNDERWATER), a shot for musical success! While hanging out with some friends Dan and Will spotted a pair of already accomplished musicians to join the team, and by pure happenstance they where also looking for members to a future band. Tyler Muetzenberg, a phenomenal drummer, studying predominantly in Hard Rock and Classic Rock, made the perfect addition to UNDERWATER’S lacking rhythm section. Jared Dieckhoff, a showman and a scholar in the fine art of guitar jumped aboard the now unstoppable UNDERWATER ride to success, playing both Bass and his first love Guitar. Topped off with the incredible tones of Jeff Wilber on Saxophone, also a scholar in his talent, perfectly compliments the band and his remarkable harmonies. Bobby Benadetto, a long time friend of Tyler’s took up the bongos due to the infectious grooves the band UNDERWATER creates. All of these things are the essence of what encapsulate the sound known today as UNDERWATER!
