Section A
Having released a few instrumental albums, the Danish guitarist Torben Enevoldsen needed a change of pace and wanted to write an all vocal album. The basic idea was to simply put together a band of musicians Torben admired and would like to work with. So in the beginning of 2001, he began writing down names of musicians and only a few enquiries were made before the line-up was a reality.\r The drummer of the German band VANDEN PLAS, Andreas Lill, was the first musician to join. Torben had heard the band live, opening for Dream Theater back in 1998 and having recently purchased their album “Far Off Grace”, Andreas ranked high on Enevoldsen's list of favourites. Andreas and Torben exchanged a few e-mails and an agreement was quickly made.\r \r The second musician to join was the Swedish vocalist Andy Engberg. Torben had been a huge fan of Andy's for years, so he was at the very top of the list. Engberg had recently parted ways with his band LION'S SHARE and was immediately interested in working with Torben and Andreas.\r Meanwhile recruiting members for SECTION A, Enevoldsen had been busy writing material for the band. The style would be a blend of very melodic hard rock and the more aggressive and complex prog metal. While Torben was keeping busy writing the music, Andy Engberg and his friend Conny Welén wrote the lyrics. \r The recording sessions began in the spring of 2001 and went on and off throughout the summer. Apart from all the guitars, Torben Enevoldsen did the bass and basic keyboard playing for the album. To add some flavour though, Enevoldsen decided to ask Derek Sherinian (PLANET X) and Günter Werno (VANDEN PLAS) to participate, doing a few keyboard solos. They both accepted and their performances were nothing short of breathtaking!\r By the fall the recordings were finished and soon after, the mix and mastering were done resulting in the debut album “The Seventh Sign”. The album was released by Lion Music and Marquee/Avalon in April, 2003.\r In 2004, Andy and Torben decided to part ways with Andreas Lill. This decision was purely based on a practical level. Section A simply needed a drummer who was located closer to Enevoldsen and Engberg. Enter former Lion’s Share drummer Johan Koleberg. Together they recorded the second album entitled “Parallel Lives”. This album was a concept album and was released by Lion Music and Gencross in February, 2006. The album features special guest appearances by Pontus Egberg (Ex-Lion's Share) and Mats Olausson (Ex-Yngwie Malmsteen).\r Right after the release of “Parallel Lives”, Enevoldsen started writing new songs. Unfortunately Andy and Torben had to part ways with new drummer Johan Koleberg. It got increasingly difficult to align schedules, so there was no way around the divorce. Torben decided to ask an old friend and former band mate of his, Thomas Heintzelmann, if he would be interested in joining Section A. Heintzelmann jumped at the chance and the new line-up was in place. The writing and recording for the third album “Sacrifice”, went on and off during 2007 and 2008. The album was finally completed in Setember of 2009 and features a guest appearance by Lasse Finbrten of Circus Maximus, who did the keyboard solos. This third album is maybe a bit more heavy and straight forward than their previous efforts, but there’s no doubt that this is still very much a Section A album…\r
